Taylor Swift fala sobre desejo de beijar amigo na música Ruin the Friendship

Ao contrário das especulações, a música “Ruin the Friendship”, da Taylor Swift, não é sobre o fim de sua amizade com a atriz Blake Lively. A letra da canção trata do desejo de beijar um amigo na época da escola. “Não foi um convite, mas eu devia ter te beijado mesmo assim”, Taylor canta já na primeira estrofe.

Em seguida, Taylor canta que o amigo em questão é comprometido: “E não era conveniente, não / Mas sua namorada estava longe / Eu devia ter te beijado mesmo assim”. Em outros trechos, ela conta sobre como conseguiu manter a amizade segura, sem extrapolar os limites, mas admite seu arrependimento.

No fim de “Ruin the Friendship”, Taylor aponta para a morte deste amigo da época do colégio. “Quando deixei a escola, perdi seu rastro / Abigail me ligou com as más notícias / Adeus, e nunca vamos saber por quê / Não foi um convite / Mas eu voei de volta pra casa mesmo assim / Ainda tínhamos tanta coisa pra dizer / E não era conveniente, não / Mas eu sussurrei no túmulo / Devia ter te beijado mesmo assim”, canta a popstar.
